Lets Add Flavor

What is Change?

Change. What a powerful thing. What an ominous thing. Change is something I have in some ways been chasing after and in other ways running from my whole life. What is change? How do we bring it into our lives? I’ve seen people double my age, still struggling to answer the latter question. One thing that has baffled me about change, specifically, is in regards to self-help books. I was able to find successful and meaningful change through so many books. I’ve considered its’ authors my greatest teachers and mentors. Yet, the self-help industry is often looked on as some sort of quack doctor. And I could see that there is very much a false sense of hope that lends itself to self-help. Wherein lies the inconsistency then? How could these books serve as a guiding light for some while acting as a blank space for so many others? I found quiet a remarkable answer to this question while discussing it with one of my friends. It seems that the expectation that goes along with self-help is that once you finish reading about your topic of choice, it will have changed you in that area. This is far from the truth. Instead, once you have read a self-help book, then you can apply those tools and ideas as you work long and hard at creating intentional, lasting change. With this, you can hope to see change at some point in the future.

This, then, helps answer my first question, what is change? Change is a process. Change is the unknown. Change is something new, something we are inexperienced at, something we can’t yet fully understand. Change is also something we can learn to embrace, to lean into, to experience fully and to approach intelligently. Change will always be uncertain, but given the right tools and understanding, change can become something great. With this website, I want to share with you what I have learned about making positive changes in my life. I have found that in life there is always change, either by our proactive choices or from naturally occurring circumstances. Why not approach it with as much insight and understanding as possible?

Thank you for joining me. I wish you the best of luck as you journey through life. :)
